Not every plant has a rail spur, and not every railcar goes where the product needs to end up. Transloading moves your food-grade bulk from the railcar to a truck so it can finish the trip by road.

What our transloading service is

Rail-to-truck transfer of food-grade dry bulk at rail sites, followed by the truck haul to its destination. Jensen Transport has been moving food ingredients since 1930 and handles the transfer and the haul under one carrier. We transload in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and we are open to other sites: ask us about your rail site.

Equipment

  • Every food-grade dry bulk trailer we use for transloading from rail sites has a factory-installed dust collector, so there is no dusting to the outside environment.
  • No climbing on top of trailers is needed. Everything is done from ground level.
  • Food-grade, kosher-approved aluminum pneumatic trailers (Heil), with exterior rib supports and no interior ledges. See dry bulk.

Food-safety standards

Keeping product inside and dust out matters for the food, the site and the crew. Ground-level work also means drivers stay off the top of the trailer. Our food hauling follows the FSMA Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food rule.

Who it is for

Ingredient suppliers and manufacturers who receive dry bulk by rail and need it moved to a plant, silo or distribution point, and the logistics managers who coordinate it.
